Violet, Fuscia, Maroon, Midnight Blue…
Between this month’s Vogue profile on Margherita Missoni’s Missoni for Target collection, and Who What Wear’s Girl of the Month profile on Jennifer Missoni, I still can’t get enough of the colorful family.
Olive, Mint, Lemon, Mustard…

The prints, colors, and textures that come alive through Missoni creations blow me away. The girls of the family emanate that radiance wherever they go.

I think we’re somewhere over the rainbow.

Lady Gaga’s new video brings us a tale of passion- a story of coming alive through love. I love the imagery, from a prarie-nymph scene reminiscent of La Primavera to Gaga making love as a mermaid (one of my favorite mythical creatures).
Dressed up in her Gaga finery Gaga is and inspires artists of life.

“The most visible creators I know are those artists whose medium is life itself- the ones who express the impossible- without brushes, hammer, clay or guitar.
They neither paint nor scuplt- their medium is being. Whatever their presence touches has increased life. They see and don’t have to draw. They are artists of being alive.”
Are two people, truly, madly, deeply in love making art in and of their existence?

I really, really love Cynthia Rowley. The Wonka-esque colors, buttons, detailing should look silly, but they don’t. They’re the kind of clothes that somehow manage to evoke the sexy decadence of Studio 54 and the massive striped lollipops for sale at Seaworld that always somehow ended up all over your face and clothes instead of your mouth. But you could - and should - wear it to work. And to the playground. And your local dive bar. And to the season’s most important cocktail party. After all, what better way to pick up the most charming man in the room than to look like you probably taste just like cotton candy?
Anyway, if you’re the kind of girl on a budget - and heck, who isn’t, head to everyone’s favorite trampoliner this Thursday - Sunday for 80 percent off clothes and accessories, including samples and last season’s finest. More details here.
Happy shopping!

From JewelMint’s August Collection:

I love this new denim interpretation. I’m not a fan of the bracelet and the wearability is questionable… but the raw denim-on-denim paired with a pleat and a multicolored wristlet is crazy cool. (Not to mention it’s a denim bustier!)
Plus, who doesn’t love a good smirk.

I can’t get enough of dichotomous looks- either in a single piece (flirtatious cutouts mixed with ladylike lace) or in an ensemble (a feminine dress paired with combat boots and ultra urban jewelry).

(Above: Lauren Conrad’s sassy Rock and Roll Queen tips.)
Ever since Rachel McAdams graced the cover of Elle in a seafoam green dress with pinkish purple whisps in her hair, I’ve been enamored with the idea.

I entertained the idea of doing soft pink and seafoam green tips for my college graduation, but my friends passionately dissuaded me (“you’ll have those pictures for the rest of your life!”). Instead, I did a test run using a pink highlighter for a few days and rather liked the result.
Now that Kate’s been rocking a blue streak around town, I’m again enchanted by the idea.

You’re only young once, right?

Look familiar? Regular working girls need their sleep, and as much as I would like to be the kind of “how does she do it?” woman who gets up at quarter to six in order to run, yoga through some vinyassa cycles, and make whole-grain pancakes for a nutritious start to my day, it’s just not happening. I usually dash out of bed just in time to brush my teeth, swallow some coffee and pull on whatever clothes are nearest to where I’m usually standing.
But I don’t like looking as though I barely had time to swipe the sleep out of my eye. So what’s a sleepyhead fashionista to do? I have tips!
